Write for us

Golden Rugby Journal welcomes original pitches about rugby's material culture: objects, kit, print, design and reuse. Strong proposals bring one subject into focus and show why a curious reader would want to spend time with it.

What to pitch

We are interested in clear explanations, thoughtful comparisons, object histories, examinations of common assumptions and practical features about caring for or reusing ordinary rugby items. Keep the subject specific enough to support a focused article, but useful beyond one matchday or one short-lived trend. We do not seek match reports, product promotion or unsupported claims.

A useful proposal

Tell us the working title, the central idea, the intended reader and what makes the piece distinct from existing coverage. Include a brief outline of the main points and any sources or permissions the piece would need. Be candid about first-hand experience: do not imply access, testing or expertise you do not have.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option or explain that you are pitching. Please send a proposal rather than a complete unsolicited manuscript. A submission is not a promise of publication; any agreed work will have its scope, editing and credit discussed clearly.

Use tells a story that labels miss

Rugby objects are made to be handled, worn, read and passed on. Looking at how they are used can reveal more than a pristine display.
