Editorial policy
Golden Rugby Journal aims to make careful, readable stories about rugby's material culture. We explain what we know, make uncertainty visible and correct the record when something is wrong.
Accuracy and context
We check factual claims against suitable sources and take care with dates, terminology and the limits of what an object can tell us. Where evidence is incomplete or accounts differ, we say so rather than presenting a neat guess as fact. General descriptions are not a substitute for checking an item's care instructions or condition.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions are made for clarity, relevance and reader interest, not to disguise promotion as reporting. Readers can use the Contact page to flag an error or ask for clarification. We review correction requests, update material when warranted and make meaningful changes clear to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid collaborations and partner placements are identified plainly so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee editorial praise or control over unrelated coverage. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when used, they are identified and should not be mistaken for documentary photographs or evidence.
Use tells a story that labels miss
Rugby objects are made to be handled, worn, read and passed on. Looking at how they are used can reveal more than a pristine display.
